The 50 Peso Mexican Gold Coin is much more Commonly known today as the golden Centenario, so-called since it was first issued in 1921 by the Mexican Mint to commemorate 100 decades of Mexican independence from Spanish colonial rule. The coins have been issued frequently from 1921 to 1931, with manufacturing restarted in 1943 to meet increasing demand for gold coins.
